Project 2027 - From Germany to Greece... on a E-Scooter

Information: This will become a multi part YouTube Movie. This blog will keep you updated.

Yes, you’ve read the title correctly. Am I insane? Perhaps. But I have a reason for doing this.

Why would you do this?

A friend once told me, that we should create as much lore as possible. He is one of my inspirations. My other inspiration is a video of Night Scape, where he drove a E-Scooter from London to Paris. I wanna do stuff while I’m still young. I wanna experience shit. When I’m old, I wanna sit on my couch and be like: “Hell yeah, I did that, I actually lived. Plus, I haven’t ever travelled alone, and I feel like this is a great way to test my mental strength and my will to fight my way to Athens.

What’s your the plan?

I turn 18 on the 25th of July 2027. Summerbreak starts on the 19th of July 2027. If I go on Monday, the 26th, I have 37 days to pull this off. Don’t get me wrong, this will still be a challenge, but even if I take 5 rest days on the trip, I “only” have to do 80km a day, which is more than possible. Depending on the circumstances (road quality, inclines, temperature, …) I can do about 40ish kilometers on a singluar charge, meaning, I’d have to charge twice a day. Mostly in public places, like McDonalds. One charge through the night, while I sleep, and one charge in the midday, when temperatures, especially in Albania and Greece are especially hot. For sleep, I plan on finding either a hotel, or relying on the kindness of others if I can’t find a place to stay on short notice. I want to show people that the world is actually much kinder than portrayed on social media.

What’s the route?

My route would start in Bochum, Germany (My hometown) and end in Athens, Greece. I’d start in Bochum and drive southeast through Bochum Süd (Bochum South). I would continue going side east, until I pass near Frankfurt am Main. From there I would continue southeast to Munich. From there, I could drive through Innsbruck, with that route “only” having a ~1.300m incline, rather than the usual ~2.500m incline you’d have when driving by car. Passing through Austria quickly, I’d drive into Italy, with my main point of interest being the city of Bozen. From Bozen, I would need to drive southeast again until I reach Slovenia, where I would make a stop in Triest. Shortly (relative to the entire trip, lol) I would need to continue to Croatia, and then follow roughly along the coast to the city of Split. It could be considered the halfway point, even though it’s a little past that. After the halfway point, we’d be in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a short time and then we would immediatley cross into Montenegro. Straight through Montenegro to Albania, where our final point of interest (just before Athens) is located, the city of Terana. Final stretch after that. Out of Albania, straight into Greece, going to Athens.

How will you finance this?

Considering that I will need filming equipment, microphones, drones (drone shots are always epic), emergency money in case anything goes wrong, insurance for injuries outside of Germany, the servicing of the scooter, food and drinks, possible places to sleep, fun money, and so on… That’s quite expensive. My plan is:

  • Write multiple brands like Insta360, DJI and Segway and ask if they wanna sponsor my video (financially or with gear like camera equipment)
  • Get a mini/part-time job to earn money; any money earned gets put away for the trip
  • Crowdfunding by getting donations through a fanbase I plan to build

Thats the rough sketch. The sponsors would be optimal, as any money I get in gear, is more money that I have for important things like repairing the vehicle if it breaks and food.

If you would like to contribute, feel free to donate to me at: https://ko-fi.com/robbenbomber

Any donators will be shown at the end of every video, in chronological order thats linked to the amount.

Every Euro helps a lot!
